Ashland Japanese Garden
As soon as we heard about the plan to create a traditional Japanese garden in the heart of Lithia Park, we knew immediately we wanted to be a part of it. We’ve always been drawn to authentic Japanese design, its intentionality and simplicity, the way each element is so carefully arranged and yet feels so natural.
Working with Japanese Garden Specialty, its owner Toru Tanaka, and Ashland Parks and Recreation, our challenge was to create a community-friendly space that serves the needs of the public while staying true to the authentic Japanese design. The garden evokes a feeling of natural harmony with traditional botanicals, flowing water, and thoughtfully placed stone.
